The details you need to know.
Interim care management is a practical decision. These are some of the questions care providers ask before agreeing a placement.
Ask about your circumstancesWhat is interim care management?
It is temporary management or senior operational support provided during a vacancy, absence, planned transition or period of increased pressure. The scope and responsibilities are agreed with the provider.
How quickly can an interim manager start?
It depends on the service location, required experience, role responsibilities and consultant availability. Contact us with your deadlines so we can discuss a realistic option.
Can an interim manager be the CQC Registered Manager?
A temporary management assignment does not automatically confer CQC registration. The appropriate arrangements depend on the role, regulated activities and applicable registration requirements, which must be clarified before placement.
How long does an interim assignment last?
The duration depends on the need. An assignment might bridge a short vacancy, cover a planned transition or provide leadership through a wider improvement programme.
Can interim leadership help a service under regulatory pressure?
Yes. It can add leadership capacity, help prioritise actions and maintain governance and staff support. However, regulatory judgements remain the responsibility of the relevant regulator.
What happens when a permanent manager is appointed?
Where included within the assignment, the interim manager helps transfer key knowledge, outstanding actions, governance priorities and team information to the incoming manager.
