When services contact our taskforce
The pressure is real. The response needs structure.
Different circumstances call for different expertise. We help leaders understand the immediate priorities, the people responsible and the support that may be appropriate.
CQC enforcement action
A warning notice, Notice of Proposal or other regulatory action needs close attention to evidence, responsibilities and deadlines.
Service stability at risk
Care quality concerns, recurring incidents or ineffective oversight are increasing pressure on managers and teams.
Leadership capacity stretched
A vacancy, unexpected absence or loss of management control leaves urgent decisions without enough support.
Improvement work stalled
Existing action plans have not produced sustained change and senior leaders need a more focused approach.
Have a regulator’s notice? Identify the exact notice and deadline before agreeing the next steps.

How we work with your service
From urgent uncertainty to clearer priorities.
The exact response depends on the concerns and the service. This four-stage approach helps structure a potential engagement without replacing safeguarding, legal or regulator-led processes.
Identify immediate risks
Clarify safety concerns, required escalation, key dates and who has decision-making authority.
Establish the evidence
Review available findings, care records, action plans and operational information within the agreed scope.
Prioritise practical action
Agree a focused plan with named owners, timescales and the support needed to deliver it.
Review and sustain progress
Track whether the actions are working, address remaining risks and plan any ongoing support.
Evidence from a live provider engagement
What action-led support can look like in practice.
Delphi has published an example involving a provider that received a CQC Notice of Proposal. The work combined wider portfolio assurance with subsequent intensive on-site support when further concerns emerged.
Three other homes received mock inspections within a week. After the original service faced further concerns, a Delphi specialist attended the following day and supported the team over seven consecutive days. This is an individual case, not a guaranteed response time or regulatory result.
Read the published case exampleWe received a detailed action plan, and the whole process was professional, insightful, and highly valuable.

Discuss your circumstancesWhat is crisis and taskforce support for care services?
It is targeted operational and compliance support for care providers dealing with acute pressure, serious quality concerns, regulatory action or leadership instability. The agreed work may include assessment, urgent action planning, on-site support, management guidance and follow-through.
How quickly can Delphi provide support?
We can discuss urgent situations and the experience required, but the start date depends on availability, service location, scope and the circumstances. We do not guarantee immediate deployment or a fixed response time.
Can Delphi help with a CQC warning notice or Notice of Proposal?
We can help leaders review operational concerns, relevant evidence and practical improvement priorities. Different enforcement notices have different processes and deadlines. Check the precise notice and seek qualified legal advice where appropriate. View CQC’s official representations and appeals guidance.
Does taskforce support replace the Registered Manager?
No. Responsibilities, delegated authority and any registration requirements must be clarified at the start. Where direct management capacity is needed, we can discuss a separate interim care management arrangement.
What if there is an immediate safeguarding risk?
Protect people first. Follow the applicable safeguarding, emergency escalation and regulatory notification procedures without waiting for a consultancy response. Independent support may complement, but must not replace or delay, those duties.
Can Delphi help if a service is subject to an admissions restriction?
We can discuss service assessment, operational stabilisation, leadership support and improvement planning. The authority imposing a restriction and its legal or contractual terms must be established. Delphi cannot independently remove a regulatory or commissioning restriction.
Can you guarantee a better CQC rating or a successful enforcement response?
No. Delphi can help providers strengthen practice, oversight, documentation and improvement, but regulatory decisions and ratings remain with CQC. There is no guarantee of a particular outcome.
What should I include in my first enquiry?
Share the type of service, location, broad concern, notice type if applicable and relevant deadline. Do not submit identifiable resident or patient records, confidential case files or sensitive documents through the general contact form. Secure information-sharing arrangements can be discussed separately.
