CQC inspection readiness & improvement
CQC Readiness & Improvement. Turn gaps into progress.
Preparing for inspection, responding to concerns or working through an improvement plan? Delphi helps care providers understand the gaps, prioritise what matters and strengthen the systems, leadership and evidence behind quality care.
Practical improvement support.
Understand your position
What is CQC readiness and improvement support?
CQC readiness and improvement support helps regulated care and healthcare providers understand their current position, identify weaknesses and take practical steps to strengthen quality, compliance and evidence of good governance.
At Delphi, that means looking beyond policies and paperwork. We consider how leadership oversight, systems, staff practice and records work together, then help your team organise improvement around real priorities.
Whether you are preparing for scrutiny or acting on existing findings, our focus is to make the next steps clearer and more achievable.
When it is time to act
Support for the moments when inspection readiness becomes a priority.
Every provider starts from a different position. These are some of the circumstances where a focused review and improvement plan can help.
Preparing for CQC scrutiny
You want greater confidence that your evidence, practice and management systems can withstand closer examination.
Acting on identified concerns
Previous inspection findings, internal audits or incidents have created a list of actions that needs direction and ownership.
Supporting new leadership
A Registered Manager or senior team needs a clearer view of current risks, priorities and the evidence behind progress.
Keeping improvements on track
Actions have begun, but leaders want more consistent oversight, follow-up and confidence that changes are embedded.
What our support can include
The right support for the gaps you need to close.
Delphi tailors each engagement to the service, urgency and work already underway. Depending on the agreed scope, support may include these eight areas.

Assess preparation for CQC scrutiny and identify key risks, weaknesses or areas requiring further attention.

Compliance and evidence support
Strengthen the alignment between systems, records, practice and relevant CQC requirements and guidance.
Governance strengthening
Clarify accountability, management information, quality assurance and how improvement actions are monitored.
Ongoing partnership
Where agreed, continue working alongside the team to help embed better ways of working over time.
Follow-up improvement support
Review progress, strengthen supporting evidence and help maintain attention on outstanding priorities.

Evidence-led inspection readiness
Built around the realities of CQC assessment.
Current CQC guidance retains five key questions, with quality statements describing what matters for high-quality care. Evidence is considered across relevant categories and may be gathered both on site and off site.
Delphi uses the applicable published guidance and regulations to inform the agreed scope, while focusing on what is actually happening in your service.

Frequently asked questions
Clear answers before you take the next step.
Whether your service is preparing for inspection or dealing with existing findings, the first step is to understand what support would help most.
What does CQC inspection readiness support involve?
Depending on the agreed scope, it can include a readiness review, gap analysis, evidence and compliance support, leadership guidance, governance strengthening and a practical improvement plan.
Can Delphi help after a Requires Improvement rating?
Yes. Where appropriate, Delphi can help a provider review the concerns, prioritise actions, strengthen oversight and support the implementation of improvement work. A future CQC rating cannot be guaranteed.
What if we already have an improvement action plan?
We can discuss how to support the work already underway, including prioritisation, accountability, evidence, management oversight and follow-up reviews. We do not need to start from scratch.
Is this different from a mock CQC inspection?
Yes. A mock CQC inspection is primarily an independent readiness exercise. Readiness and improvement support focuses on helping a service act on gaps, strengthen systems and monitor progress. Both can be used together.
Can you support managers and care teams?
Our service can include mentoring, coaching and constructive guidance for Registered Managers and senior leaders, alongside support for governance and service-level improvement.
How long will support take and what does it cost?
Timescales and fees depend on your service type, urgency, existing findings, number of locations and the work required. Contact Delphi to discuss a suitable scope and proposal.
Can Delphi guarantee a better CQC rating?
No. Delphi can help strengthen preparation, governance, practice and evidence, but assessment decisions and ratings remain the responsibility of the Care Quality Commission.
