What Ofsted registration support means
A strong application starts long before submission.
Ofsted registration support is practical consultancy for providers preparing to open a children’s home or add another service. It can cover application paperwork, business and care planning, policies, leadership preparation and the readiness of the proposed home.
Completing forms is only part of the work. Your documentation, safeguarding arrangements, premises, financial plans and leadership responsibilities need to describe a consistent, workable service.
Whether you are planning your first home or expanding, we can help identify priorities and agree the right level of support.
What’s included
What does our Ofsted registration support include?
Our work is tailored to the type of children’s home you plan to run and the stage you have reached.
SC1 and SC2 application support
Guidance on preparing the service application and associated forms, checking key details and supporting evidence for clarity and consistency.
Statement of Purpose and children’s guide
Drafting and review support so service documents accurately describe the home, its objectives, care model and planned arrangements.
Core policies and safeguarding frameworks
Support with safeguarding, equality and diversity, anti-bullying, missing from care, challenging behaviour and complaints policies.
Premises and location readiness
Pre-registration walkarounds, location risk assessments, practical risk identification and review of property or planning-related requirements.
Registered Manager and RI preparation
Leadership structure review, recruitment support where required, and mock fit person questions for relevant managers and Responsible Individuals.
Business, workforce and continuity planning
Support with business planning, workforce development, financial viability evidence and business continuity arrangements.
Not every provider needs the same package. If parts of your application are already prepared, we can discuss focused support without duplicating your work.
Application foundations
The documents matter.
The connections matter more.
Ofsted requires specified information and supporting documents for children’s home applications. We help organise your evidence and check that it aligns with the home you are preparing to operate.
Requirements vary. Check Ofsted’s children’s home application guidance for the current list.
Our approach
A clear route from your current stage to your next steps.
We start with your actual position rather than treating every enquiry as a request for a full package.
Understand your plans
We discuss the home, provider structure, premises, leadership and application stage.
Identify the gaps
We review preparation and highlight missing documents or readiness issues.
Agree the support
We scope documentation, SC1/SC2, policies, recruitment or interview preparation.
Prepare for what follows
Where appropriate, we help you consider mobilisation and post-registration governance.
Common registration challenges
Know what needs attention before it holds you back.
Registration applications bring several moving parts together. A practical readiness review can identify inconsistencies and missing arrangements, then focus effort where it is most useful.
Documents that do not quite align
Policies, business plans and the Statement of Purpose should describe the same proposed service.
Leadership arrangements that need clarifying
Responsibilities, suitability requirements and preparation for relevant interviews deserve early attention.
Premises questions left too late
Location assessments, planning requirements and readiness of the environment can affect progress.
An application already in progress
Where questions or gaps remain after submission, we can discuss focused next steps.
Experience behind the advice
Practical Ofsted expertise, grounded in children’s services.
Registration involves more than documents. Delphi’s specialists bring regulatory and operational experience to discussions about safeguarding, leadership and service setup.

Can Delphi help with both SC1 and SC2 applications?
Yes. We support the preparation of SC1 and relevant SC2 information, review supporting documentation and help identify gaps. Applicants remain responsible for submitting accurate information.
Do you work with first-time children’s home operators?
Yes. We can begin at an early planning stage, reviewing your service model, business plan, premises, leadership and key documents.
What documents are needed to register a children’s home?
The requirements can include the Statement of Purpose, children’s guide, policies, location assessment, financial viability evidence, SC1 and applicable SC2 forms. Consult Ofsted’s current checklist for the authoritative requirements.
How long does Ofsted registration take?
Timescales vary with the application, completeness of evidence and Ofsted’s processing arrangements. Delphi cannot control regulatory timescales. Refer to Ofsted’s current registration policy.
Can you help with an application already in progress?
Yes. We can review outstanding documents, clarify identified gaps and support actions within your control. We cannot guarantee faster processing or approval.
Can you help with Registered Manager and RI preparation?
Yes. Support can include leadership planning, relevant recruitment and mock fit person interview preparation.
How much does Ofsted registration consultancy cost?
Fees depend on scope. You may need end-to-end registration consultancy or targeted support with a document or an existing application. We can discuss your needs before agreeing the work.
Does Delphi guarantee registration approval?
No. Ofsted makes registration decisions. Delphi supports preparation, documentation, leadership readiness and practical action planning.
